Please Note: Due to an overwhelming amount of applications for direct aid, we are on a brief pause while we review all of the applications we've received. This pause will be in effect until mid-March, but please continue to check back on this page for any updates, or changes to that deadline. We appreciate your understanding and your patience. If you have any concerns, are looking for linkages to other resources, are in need of immediate food support, shelter, or something else, please email Liz Flynn (SANDS Program Manager) for support! Emergency Direct Aid for LGBTQ+ Youth

Times are tough, and we know that many LGBTQ+ youth are facing real and immediate hardships. The Boston Alliance of LGBTQ+ Youth (BAGLY) is here to help. Please read the following information below to learn more about receiving direct aid.

In order to maximize our ability to meet the needs of our marginalized community while maintaining appropriate fiscal control and oversight, we offer the following direct aid options:

  • Housing assistance, e.g. help with rent, deposits, maintenance, etc.

  • Bill assistance, e.g. electricity, phone bill, gas/heating, etc.

  • Transportation assistance, e.g. MBTA passes, Uber/Lyft, etc.

  • Food assistance, e.g. groceries, school meal plans, etc.

  • Other assistance (anything that does not fit the categories above)

We distribute direct aid to LGBTQ+ youth ages 25 and under who are a member of the Massachusetts community on a first-come, first-serve basis. Examples of folks who are members of the Massachusetts community include: legal residents; youth who attend college, high school, or other types of schools in MA; or youth who currently live out of state but are planning to relocate to MA within the next 6 months.

If you are eligible for BAGLY’s direct aid, please complete this application. Once you’ve completed the application form, BAGLY will review your application and contact you with next steps and more details. Please be aware that it can take up to a month to fulfill an individual direct aid request, allowing for the time it takes to review applications and complete our application process.

If you are facing an immediate risk of eviction due to a late rent payment, please contact info@bagly.org after completing the application. You will need to supply 1) a copy of your lease which includes a payment address for your rent, 2) correspondence from your landlord showing you are behind in rent, and 3) a form of ID that matches the information on your lease.

Please note: We can only disburse payments directly to your landlord in these cases.
